MOTORSHOW AND HI-Q SUPPORT SPECIAL BERGSIG LEARNERS

Engines revved and polished chrome glinted in the sun on Saturday, when a collection of vehicles fine and fun gathered at the annual motor show to show off and raise much-needed funds for Bergsig Special School in Uitenhage.

There was a collection of vehicles fine and fun gathered at the annual motor show to show off and raise much-needed funds for Bergsig Special School in Uitenhage.

Backed as always by local auto-fitment centre Hi-Q Algoa, the motor show enjoyed its sixth successful year and drew a bigger crowd than ever, who also enjoyed the attractions of the school’s festive fete.

Seen on the right: Andre Smit, General Manager Hi-Q Algoa, who has organised this motor show to the benefit of the Uitenhage community since its beginning, six years ago.

Below: Andre Smit and Xolile Tatana (Business Development Manager, Hi-Q Eastern Cape) share a light moment in one of the attractive vehicles on show.  All to the benefit of the Bergsig Special School in Uitenhage.

The motor show was started by the Rotary Club of Uitenhage and first organised by Hi-Q Algoa’s André Smit. The first event was such a success that it led to a second show, this time held at Bergsig and devoted to assisting this caring institution, which caters for children with intellectual disabilities.

Over the years, Bergsig staff, including principal Deon Wolmarans, parents and members of the community, including Smit and Hi-Q Algoa owner Kenneth Botha senior, have grown the event to a national level. Motor mad owners drive from all over the country to exhibit their vehicles with pride and to support the school. Funds raised are put towards improvements at the school and create opportunities for the children to prepare for a bright future.

"The event is one of the ways in which Hi-Q Algoa demonstrates its support for the Uitenhage community. We have a vested interest in the school itself, having employed and trained some of Bergsig’s ex-learners,” says Andre, General Manager Hi-Q Algoa.
